Overview
Program description:
The Master’s in Economic Analysis offers a two-year learning programme in English. Besides providing students with a strong methodological basis, it focuses on comparative, regional, and sectoral issues. Core courses are Advanced Comparative Economics, Health Policy and Finance, and Institutions of Economic Policy, which form the basis of the three specializations of: – Comparative Economics – Health Economics and – Labour Studies. Students interested in economic and political matters in Central and Eastern Europe, topics in labour and health economics, or comparative studies of post-socialist countries are expected to apply for the programme, which also offers a large number of elective courses including catch-up courses like Business English, and Foundations of Calculus and Statistics. Specialization in Comparative Economics Specialization in Comparative Economics offers students thorough knowledge in the field of comparative economics. Through comparative analysis of different regions and sectors the complex relationship between economics and politics will be revealed, while the roles of both institutions and processes highly relevant in the 21st century will be also systematically analyzed. Using models and methods learnt earlier the courses focus mainly on problems specific to Central and Eastern Europe, and the emerging markets of Asia, but some important sectors will be examined from a more general, comparative point of view as well. Specialization in Health Economics The Specialization in Health Economics equips students with a thorough knowledge of the economic concepts and theories of the public sector (i.e. health care sector). It helps to develop capabilities of identifying issues emerging in health economic analysis as well as work out alternative solutions (modelling different strategies, action plans, analysing budget impact). The specialization contributes to students ability to apply multidisciplinary knowledge to the analysis of economic problems in health care and health policy proposals. Specialization on Labour Studies The Specialization on Labour Studies equips students with a thorough knowledge of the economic concepts and theories of labour market and employment policy. It helps to develop capabilities of identifying issues emerging in labour and social analysis as well as work out alternative solutions (modelling different strategies, action plans, analysing budget impact). The specialization contributes to students ability to apply multidisciplinary knowledge to the analysis of economic and social problems in the area of the labour market and economic policy.
