About the University of Nyíregyháza
The University of Nyíregyháza is one of the outstanding institutions of the universities of applied sciences in the country, where research, high-quality education and personal attention are combined with an excellent infrastructure.
The institution plays a regional role primarily in the Northern Great Plain, and within it, in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county, which is located in the north-eastern part of the country, on the eastern border of the European Union, approximately 240 km from the capital. By its territory, it is the seventh-largest and by its population, it is the third most populous county, it is bordered by Ukraine in the northeast, Romania in the southeast, and Slovakia in the northwest. The central role of logistics, which has Eastern European and national significance, is indisputable. Nyíregyháza is the seventh-largest city in the country, with almost 120,000 inhabitants. It is a dynamically developing city, the economic and cultural engine of the region.
The University of Nyíregyháza has a specific education and research profile with the mission of providing academic research and knowledge transfer. The University of Nyíregyháza offers a wide range of educational programmes. Based on the number of students, the most popular programmes are engineering, agricultural sciences, economics, natural sciences, informatics, teacher-training, arts and sports.
In the past ten years, infrastructural development projects have given the university the necessary facilities, infrastructure and state-of-the-art technology and equipment. Accommodation
The University of Nyíregyháza offers you a safe campus for living. Scholarship holders will be provided with accomodation in our renovated dormitories located in quiet, residential area of the campus. All the institues of the University as well as the city centre are easily accessible from the dormitories. The rooms are nicely furnished and contain bathrooms. Bedclothes/sheets are supplied as well. Facilities include: WIFI, study room, lounge, kitchen, bike storage, parking slots, cafeteria and the ERASMUS International Room as community area.

Student life
Getting new friends and finding new connections is the most delightful and pleasant activity at the University. Our current students come from 24 different countries. Day by day the international community is growing and more and more students find the University of Nyíregyháza as a second home.
The International Relations Office and its team building up a system of mentors. The mentor students will accompany you to take care of official business and help you settle in quickly in Nyíregyháza. They will guide you if you feel unstable or lost during your stay in Hungary.
